We extend the table of welcome to all people who enter into our community.
We develop peaceful, trusting, healthy and reconciled relationships among one another and our broader community.
We recognize that we are all people formed in the image of God who paradoxically suffer the consequence of personal and corporate brokenness and are in need of God’s generous grace.
We offer personal care and love to one another in times of crisis and difficulty offering sacrificial service to one another in a spirit of empathy.
We create opportunities for people to develop their skills and talents for personal and communal benefit.
At Next Door we seek to be good neighbours, particularly to those living in tough socioeconomic circumstances. We offer warm hospitality and supportive relationships, developed as we eat, play, work and learn together. The community we imagine is built upon the premise of trust and respect, and is welcoming to all.
As a ministry of ForestView Church we first opened our doors in 2012; an outgrowth of our work with Compassion Society and Motel Ministry. Located alongside Compassion Society, in 2015 we relocated to our current site where we are excited to be a ‘next door’ neighbour to the Warwick Surrey community. Since moving into Warwick Surrey, we not only operate out of our storefront, but occupy community spaces offering, among other things, a ball hockey league at the local pad and community gardening at the local City of Burlington garden site.
In Fall 2017 we expanded into the adjoining unit opening Next Door Kitchen - a space for learning healthy cooking and sharing healthy food with one another. Since that time we've also expanded our programs to offer a weekly toonie breakfast, serving the broader community and raising awareness and support for our various community partners.
We hope that you'll drop in to join us!
Community Outreach Director
As the Director of Outreach at ForestView, Paul is now in his 15th year on staff, overseeing the development of Next Door. Paul’s professional background is in the field of Social Work and Community Development and he is particularly interested in connecting the church with the forgotten people in our local community. Paul lives in Burlington with his wife Elizabeth and their five children, Alexandria, Gabriel, Hazel, Sophia and Simon. His current interests are native gardening, mountain biking, trail running, basketball and visiting indie coffee shops in any urban centre he visits. If he is doing any of the above with his family all the better!
As the Site Director of Next Door, Angie first came to us as a volunteer helping paint our original location in 2012. The further story of how Angie came to us is one worth hearing, so be sure to ask! Angie loves God, family, people and healthy eating. You’ll see each of those on display when you visit with her at Next Door. Angie has two children, Josiah and Aliah and is married to Dave!
As a community missionary, Angie is responsible to raise a portion of her own support. If you would like to offer financial support to Angie in her community ministry please contact her or visit:
